MOT Testing
Did you know that you can have your test done within 30 days of the expiry date? If the car passes, your MOT is valid for up to 13 months. If it fails, you have longer to arrange the repairs.
Here at Universal Tyres, we do not charge for a re-test. So if your vehicle fails it's MOT, get it repaired to meet Vosa's standards and we will re-test your vehicle again for FREE!
If your vehicle is 3 years or older, then you are required by law to ensure your vehicle undergoes an annual MOT Test. This ensures that the vehicle meets the minimum safety specifications required by law to have your car on the road.
It is the responsibilty of you, as the owner of the vehicle, to ensure that your vehicle is examined every 12 months. It is an offence to drive your vehicle on the road without a valid MOT certificate. The recent overhaul of the MOT by the governing body VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) means that all records of the MOT are computer-based. This means that the police and their ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras can immediately check to see if your vehicle has an up-to-date and current MOT.
Not being able to produce an up-to-date MOT certificate for your vehicle will result in a fine at minimum. If your vehicle is involved in an accident, then not being able to produce a valid MOT certificate could affect your insurance claim and lead to a conviction if it is discovered the cause of the crash was vehicle defect.
